Independence Day – “Going Deep”

Let’s return to the initial topic of the week: “Liberating Ourselves From Emotional Roadblocks”

For example, in a professional setting the executive team may believe that an employee is assuming more authority in his/her own in a way that competes with the authority of the executive team. In the context of projection, this perception of the employee would arguably stem from dormant insecurities lurking within the executive team. Is the projection camouflaging dormant insecurities that are awakened by someone else’s confidence and competence? Scenarios like this are common in church settings, the corporate environment, and any space that supports an authoritative structural system, including the family unit.

So how does one dismantle this defense mechanism? First, one must go within and explore why he or she is occupying this emotional space. Is it due to an unhealthy relationship with authority figures from the onset of one’s life, e.g., parents/guardians, teachers, peers, etc.? It is imperative that we examine and re-examine the relationships that we establish and are presently in.
